Chilaquiles Factory Reviews
I can't believe I haven't been back in this building since I worked there from 2000 - 2004 when it was a family owned tex-mex restaurant called "La Fiesta". The dining room and bar layout has certainly changed a lot since then! We started with margaritas and chips & salsa at the bar while we waited for the other members of our party to arrive. The margaritas were very good and reason enough to come back next time I'm in the neighborhood. The chips & salsa are good too. The bartender/server was great and set up a table for us to move to once everyone was there. I ordered the Chilaquiles Divorciados and it was good but not the best chilaquiles I've had. Maybe I'm spoiled from all of the chilaquiles I ate on a recent vacation to Mexico (I was on a real tear seeing just how many chilaquiles I could find). My brother, who is vegan, found the vegan menu to be very good. There are a lot more dishes would like to try on the menu, including some of their breakfast options. Service was great and the prices were reasonable. Looks like they have space for large groups as well. I would definitely come here again.
So excited to find a place with such a huge vegan menu! I got the tex Mexican plate with crispy "ground meat" taco and soy "chicken" tamale. Both were delicious. Salsa was yummy, spicy for me but I'm a huge wimp! Also got the super burrito with ground beef n chili sauce, huge and delicious. The house margarita was pretty boring and tasted mostly like cheap mix. Only reason for not giving them 5 stars. A great Mexican place should have a great house margarita in my option. Wed they have but 2 vegan entrees get a free vegan desert-- I'll def be back for that special!
This place had me hopping with happiness as soon as I saw they had a kids play room on site! Kiddo was able to pick his entertainment and run around doing ninja moves without frustrating any of the adults present! A+!!! Note to every other restaurant... this is a huge point-earner!! Queso flameado was really good, creamy, melty, tasty. The beef fajita was well worth the add-on. Tortillas (both flour & corn) were good-chewy & sturdy for holding fillings as we shoveled these noms into our pie-holes Mains were great too- bean & cheese nachos plentifully covered with toppings to the edges. Chilaquiles were plentiful & super tasty! I enjoyed the salsa Verde (green sauce) more as the red sauce was very heavily Chipotle flavored (a bit too smoky for my taste). I will go no eggs next time... I don't ever find they add anything for me with chilaquiles... but the eggs were cooked right nonetheless! Was glad I added guac as well. Was very tasty! Kiddo enjoyed his burger too! All in all, excellent meal & great service experience... We'll be back to check out more of the menu selection here!
Chilaquiles Factory has restored my hope in my continued search for great Mexican Food. I'm sorry folks but I have not developed a taste for Tex-Mex Food. I understand this is a personal taste issue and I will never base my reviews on that basis. With that said, the Chilaquiles factory has truly touched my heart and my pallet with its food. I love Pork Carnitas, but it's difficult to find it "Baja Style", marinated, tender and grilled up just a touch. It's like the chef was reading my mind. The pork was tender, juicy, an ample serving with Beans and rice for a reasonable price. Being allergic to Bell Peppers (second most used element in a Tex-Mex recipe) its was a little challenging to find something my wife could eat. The owner personally helped us make our choices to insure we didn't have any allergy mishaps. My wife had Beef Taquitos (little Tacos). She loved them. Nice chunks of beef, and she was able to add her own condiments. Later we found out she could have ordered them "Mexican Style" with onions and cilantro. They also offer a selection of delicious fruit juices, aka "Agua Frescas". We tried Melon and Jamaica (Ha-mi-ca). Most places water them down so much that their practically tasteless. Not so here, both drinks were pure and full of flavor. You could taste the consistency. The owner mentioned he was light on staff that day (Sunday afternoon), but you could hardly tell. He and the rest of the staff made every effort to insure we didn't have to wait for anything. The staff checked on us constantly, so that we were never in need. I love that and that it was a family business. He truly appreciated our business. Lots of TV's in the wall so you won't miss a single play. This has become one of my favorite spots, for sure. If you are looking for vegan Mexican, Give the Chilaquiles Factory a serious look. They have the most extensive Vegan Mexican menu around ... and the vegan food is not mediocre ... unlike a certain Mr. ______ (Vegans, you know who I am talking about). An additional plus for the Chilaquiles Factory Is that the General Manager and Staff are super super super nice. * * * This is a tough town in which to run a Mexican restaurant. There are a million outstanding brick and mortal places. There are another million outstanding food trucks. The competition is pretty intense. There were a lot of empty seats when we ate there. The food we had was "okay". My wife was more enthusiastic than I was because of the many vegan options. But she was not talking five stars. If this place was in Madison, Wisconsin, Its stock would go way up. Wisconsin does not have great Mexican food. If you are a vegan and sorely miss Mexican food, This place's stock goes way up. If you are a carnivore looking for all-out Tex-Mex delight, There are a whole lot of food trucks out there that are calling your name.
